When: Entries displayed throught the Show, items can be collected after 4pm on Friday of the show.
Where: Centre of Exhibition Hall - Indoor Trade & Handmade. A small prize giving to trophy winners will be at the end of the day on Friday in the Exhibition Hall. You will be notified if you are involved in this prize giving.
Fees: A small fee of $5 per entry.
Each competitor will receive a complimentary ticket to attend the HB A&P Show.
The Handmade Competition encourages anyone from the community to enter their hand crafted creations from the past year into our various competition classes. Judging of entries will take place prior to the Show and Prize Cards with 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings will be displayed with them at the Show. Prizes in the form of cash or gift voucher will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings in each class, along with Prize Cards. There will also be overall trophies awarded for various "best in show" winners
Registrations will be open online from 1st August 2026.
If insufficient entries are received classes may be combined.
Entries must be delivered to the Exhibition Hall at the Tomoana Showgrounds (Gate 2, Kenilworth Road) between 10am-2pm on Monday the 12th of October 2026. Outside of this time, by arrangement only. Late Entries will not be accepted. Judging will take place the week of the 12th of October.
Classes:
Hand Craft - using flax, hand painting, jewellery and stationary
- HC1 - Handmade card with a positive saying or quote
- HC2 - Handmade jewellery or accessory with wellbeing qualities
- HC3 - Harakeke (flax) item of any sort
- HC4 - Hand painted item of any sort
Kitchen Craft - Preserves and baking
- KC1 - 1 jar of sealed/covered chutney, relish or pesto of any sort
- KC2 - 1 jar of sealed/covered jam or marmalade of any sort
- KC3 - 1 decorated cupcake (presented on jar lid with jar used as cover
- KC4 - 1 plate of 3 biscuits of your choice
Fibre Craft - Wool and needle craft - These can be collaborative crafts but please specify this at time of entry
- FC1 - Any garment made from handspun wool or any natural fibre
- FC2 - Any small knitted, felted or woven garment/item
- FC3 - Any large knitted, felted or woven garment/item
- FC4 - Any machine made garment
- FC5 - Any non wearable item eg quilt, bag, soft toy, wallhanging
- FC6 - Embroidery of any sort
- FC7 - Any non wearable item eg quilt, bag, soft toy, wallhanging (Students 18 years and under)
Innovative Craft - Creative craftsmanship that includes metal work, 3D printing and modelling
- IC1 - Metal, Wood or Glass Craft of any sort
- IC2 - Freestyle Model (max. size 20x30x30cm)
- IC3 - A 3D dimensional sculpture of any medium (max size 20x30x30cm)
