Calling all farmers! AFFCO and the HB A&P Society welcomes farmers of all ages and stages to enter Best of the Bay Beef and Export Lamb Competitions to be in to win.
AFFCO Best of the Bay Beef Competition - Showcase your best cattle on Hoof, Hook and Meat, and prepare for an unparalleled experience! This unique event celebrates every stage of beef production, from the finest livestock to expertly butchered cuts and the ultimate gourmet creations.
1. On the Hoof - Live Animal is judged at AFFO plant by an AFFCO Livestock Buyer.
2. On the Hook – the slaughtered animal is judged at it’s slaughter site using AUS Meat Grading criteria.
3. On Plate – a prime cut of the top 10 slaughtered animals are cooked and judged for eating quality, by three judges consisting of a high profile chef, a consumer representative and a beef processing industry professional.
Attendees are invited to indulge in the culinary showdown where top chefs and grill masters share mouth-watering beef slices that will tantalize your taste buds. This event is a must for anyone passionate about the journey from farm to table.
AFFCO Export Lamb Competition - Showcase your finest livestock in a contest that celebrates excellence in lamb production. Compete for top honors in categories including Best Pen of Three on Hoof, Best Pen of Three on Hook, Combined Hoof & Hook, and the esteemed Overall Supreme Carcass.
Class Entry Options
NEW SEASON LAMB (under 6 months of age), 16.0-22.9kg HCW, 4-15mm GR, (Targets: 17-19kg HCW, 8-10mm GR)
OLD SEASON LAMB (over 6 months of age), 18.0-26.9kg HCW, 4-15mm GR, (Targets: 20-22kg HCW, 8-10mm GR)
